The end of NATO can't come a day too soon! I'll definitely be cheering that!

Maybe then the world will get a chance to take a breather without the threat of violence dressed as 'democracy and freedom'. Here's hoping!

Hmmm... MacGregor seems to be saying two, mutually exclusive things; on the one hand, he blames Zelensky for impeding, sabotaging the talks between the US and Russia, averring that Trump (is it only Trump?) wants to do a 'deal' and that Trump could (but apparently he isn't) pull the plug on the Europeans, who are intent on keeping the war going but on the other hand, MacGregor completely avoids the fact that it was the US who started the whole thing in the first place! The NYT 'revelations' show clearly that without the total involvement of the US war machine, that's intelligence, satellites, people on the ground, targetting et al, and of course, the weapons, Zelensky could never have invaded the East in the first place, the event that triggered the Russian intervention, the so-called Special Military Operation.

What annoys me is that this entire interview was pretty much a sham, because it didn't deal with the core issues that created the situation in the first place. What we got was a lot of hot air and all of it, dealing with events, AFTER THE FACT! It was a kind of sleight of hand, as it tried to present Trump as some kind of deal maker, brought in to clear up a mess made by somebody else, when in fact Trump, along with the rest of the US warmongers are responsible for initiating events going back to at least 2004 and in reality, 1945 with USUK support of the fascist Banderites.

Exactly, William! You well noted the main contradiction. Basically it was US who created and promoted this conflict, as a leading force within NATO. So for us in Russia it’s pretty fun to see this new 2025 rhetorics that US is our main ally, who wants to stop it.

Trump is looking for the easiest solution of the incredibly difficult situation. He wishes to take advantage from Russia, Ukraine, diminish Europe and get a lot of political points. It is what he wants indeed.

Once not completed, he will just push both sides to have more and more economical and war losses. Also an “easy” solution, not a precise one.

I think that the main part of this sad opera is still ahead. I’m afraid West severely underestimates Russia saying that it’s army degraded. It means they do not understand Russia, as our gvrnmt did not understand Ukraine in 2022.

Began 1991 actually with the breakup of USSSR and Warsaw pact. Gorbachov was assured NATO would not expand and has increased 12 new sites pushing eastwards and were about to put a NATO military base right on Russia Ukraine border. In 2014 Yanukovich was removed by a CIA and MI5 backed coup, although he was democratically elected and supported by the Ukrainian people. He was replaced by an EU and NATO sympathetic Poroshenko. 2014 Russian separatists invade Crimea and Donbas. The Minsk Agreements (2014-2015) were meant to give Donbas autonomy within Ukraine, but Kyiv refused to implement them. In 2019 73% of Ukrainians voted for Zelensky and his peace platform. However the US trained fascists opposed him (through Nalyvaichenko), from moving heavy weapons from the frontline and negotiate. This of course saw a change of tack for him and accept fascists into his government. Now in the pocket of USA, the dye was cast against peace and diplomacy. The Instanbul peace agreement was abandoned. Since the calamity of the invasion and loss of life, USAID have funded 702 media outlets to control the narrative and social manipulation in Ukraine and the West. NATO and EU will a disrupt peace agreement. Its good to see others seeking a fuller picture

NATOs way to play the world's SWAT team is funny. Because they literally force countries to dance waltz when they want to dance tango. And I'll agree that NATO stand for fall and that's probably the best solution to avoid WW3.

In current sequence of actions it seems highly likely that Europe rather wants to take terrific damage and “spoil” it’s pants rather than making a cold and wise stop.

Would like to see that happen but EU is delusional and has its grip tightly on Ukraine and will not broker a deal, despite what Trump wants. Military Keynesianism is a sad direction for Germany who have deindustrialized since 2022. The old adage, guns and butter.
