He's a second generation politicsl insider nepo baby. Was reputed as a teenager to be a parrty guy using his connections but thick in the head at school.
His father was a Norwegian government defense minister and ambassador to the USA. And the father was exactky the same: served his country up to the Americans on a plate in the cold war era, and helped them represss all left politicsl parties that might preter detente abd getting along with neighbours instead of feeding the paranoia abd military industrial complex.
Stoltenberg was also the Norwegian PM when the leading children of his political opponents were trapped, and then mass assassinated on an island. The "Incompetence" of the State response to this outrageous terrorist attack, and to the bombing in central Oslo, were so monumental the guy was promoted to head NATO.
Reminds me of the psychopathic tendencies and blind loyalty to the US shown by that recent coup attempt in Rep of Korea by the now impeached leader.
This was an excellent show Glenn, watched this one from beginning to end. Loved the part where Lawrence talked about the marines in Syria were fighting shooting at the CIA bc they were on the side of Daesh/ISIS … what a circus 🎪!
Very valuable from beginning to end, but stunning from 40' on, namely the inside story of the US State Dept's twenty-year-long transformation of Europe into US surrogate for weaponized "liberal democracy." Thank you for this, Prof. Diesen, including your excellent questioning.
