If only there were more strong voices like Glen's in the Western world. It would make the world a more peaceful place. Sadly there's too many Western politicians not fit for purpose. All to eager to champion conflict as a way of solving their problems. I suppose it's very easy for them to take this route. As it's never those people who fight in their conflicts. Neither them or their offspring ever have to risk their lives or their own money. This way of governance is a dead end. It only causes huge suffering. The lengths the Western ruling classes have went to in provoking a conflict with Russia. Are there for all to see if they research the matter in a balanced manner. The reason President Putin has been demonised as much by the Western media. Is simply because he refused to bow down to the Western powers. His number 1 task has been to rebuild & develop Russia into a strong independent nation. For his citizens benefit first & foremost. This has the knock on effect of being strong enough to stand up to those who have consistently tried to weaken Russia. A great article I read at the weekend by a Russian journalist. He said the West is obsessed with President Putin. They believe if they can get rid of him, then Russia will collapse. He said they need to understand we are all President Putin today. If they take him down we have a whole nation to take his place. They do not understand Russians, they do not know what they are up against.
This infantilized “personalization” — Putin being misrepresented as somehow a personally defective aberration rather than an expression of legitimate Russian national interests (typical of all these “regime change” narratives) — perhaps ought to be expected of a “civilization” such as a West whose most significant contemporary cultural achievement would appear to be the Marvel cinematic universe …
I find it amazing that in the U.S. we have literally no one who has any insight into the real geopolitical strategies that will form partnerships. The U.S. only knows 1 sided wars against weaker countries. It seems that missile technology changes those relationships and the U.S. missed the memo
We do, but they're either in academia or deep in the bowels of the State Department. The former can speak publicly, and do. John Mearsheimer and Jeffrey Sachs are the most prominent academicians. They each speak weekly with Judge Andrew Napolitano on YouTube and with other interlocutors.
There are large numbers of academics, journos and former bureaucrats in the US and EU that write or speak regularly on WEF, EU and NATO foreign policy follies.
They get zero MSM and little ASM coverage. The pie is only so big. ASM is expanding, MSM is shrinking. That may help.
Of course, no nation in NATO except the US actually "protects" speech. So there is always the threat of being arrested and losing your job for "free speech" crimes.
There are lots of people who have such insight. But anyone who starts promoting such concepts, well their career in academia and govt is dead on the day they finsh their PHD. as you can see from the scence of student protesters and faculty getting arrested in the US, the SAME oligarchs that control the US govt also control US academia.
Yup — the Houthis are an object lesson that a technological revolution in military affairs means the era of maritime impunity of the West is over. Are we ready to learn it?
Why is it the Politicians who are Elected to Power are nothing more than Legalised Gangsters, And Corrupt Liars, Whilst People like Professor Diesson are on the whole Decent Human Beings totally ignored by the Masses the Prof is one example,I give two more perfect examples of decent Human Beings totally ignored by the Majority,One from the UK Jeremy Corbyn and the Other from the US Bernie Sanders, Two honest caring Politicians how many of their Class can we even contemplate using the above description, Untill the Majority of the Masses Wake The F*** Up it will make no difference what Good Decent People like the Prof Bernie or Jeremy say or attempt to do, The Masses, The Mob, The Proles, The Plebs, I prefer to use Comrades Vote Will always make the Corrupt The Leaders of The Gang because These Gangsters are Extremely comfortable Lying through their Teeth.
Remember when he ranted against millionaires and billionaires? Now, those millionaires aren't such bad people since he became one. And how did Sanders become a millionaire?
Lord Ismay sez; "Keep the Russians out, the US in, and the Germans down."
I wonder if he understood how "in" the US would be in western Europe? It's so bad now, that it appears we actually colonized western Europe and the colonies insisted we colonize them. They are a collective "battered spouse syndrome" minus the US apologizing for throwing them under the bus and promising to never do it again.
Maybe Ben Franklin said it best;
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Technological superiority now resides with Russia as does its economic superiority when it comes to equipping modern military power. The Outlaw US Empire has been at war with Russia since 1918, except for the brief January 1942-September 1945 period, and the war restarted immediately as Operation Unthinkable shows. That the Empire is losing and will soon have lost a war semi-directly waged by it against Russia over @100 years is a fact not being mentioned most anywhere. Trump's Imperialist bluster is aimed at covering that fact up. I doubt it will work.
Russia's victory also means greater exposure of Eurasian/Eastern thought and interjection into geopolitical discourse and thought. IMO, the Empire will continue to pursue its containment strategy, possibly employing Moldova as the next Ukraine. But most of Europe appears to dislike being a colony of the Outlaw US Empire which is clearly true in Central Europe as well as France. The big deal will be the formation of the Eurasian Security Structure that will seal the SMO's finish. and NATO/EU's demise.
The US was never going to integrate Russia and risk the two largest industrial powers in Europe, Russia and Germany, becoming BFFs again.
I haven't figured out if the WEF agenda is American orchestrated or if the WEF sets US policy. I do know that all of NATO Europe is WEF stamped and approved except for Fico and Orban and so it's no surprise that Scholz and Macron are willing to burn their cultures and economies to the ground for the benefit of their master(s).
At the core of all this, basically a small handful of oligarchs that run the US and control the US government, are engineering the demise of all of Europe, by simply directing European puppets pretending to be leaders, to implement sanctions and "derisking" that are specifically intended to harm Europe and turn it into a tied captive that can be ruthlessly exploited.
All else with Russia are secondary effects. This is US oligarchs plucking off Europe's legs and hands one by one and them making them crawling labour.
Great article and great insights. I put myself in the place of a Russian living an everyday life, agreed there’s the usual propaganda and brain wash against the west. But there’s that feeling ever presented of being not good enough according to so-called democratic liberal western freedom. For 70 years in my 73 year old life, I’m told and I had to learn that Russians are bad, evil people, we as westerners have learned to hate Russians, if someone should be convicted for the now hype hate speech, we all are guilty. This Russians in the street know and feel, any western tolerance toward them is regarded with mistrust and denial. The mutual aversion goes very deep, and indeed every Russian now is a Putin, what you expect?
This article may be too long and needs to be subdivided.
I dispute the thesis of the first section, that framing post-soviet Russia as an adversary is linked to security considerations. It would be much safer to have integrated Russia in NATO between 1995 and 2005.
This framing of Russia as enemy was to maintain and fabricate a threat that made the USA stay relevant in Europe, and further the interest of an uncompetitive arms industry. As noted by Charles Tilly on state formation in medieval Europe, the state is a protection racket.
France and Germany wanted Russia as a friend. They already have more than enough racketeering legitimized with their unfunded welfare entitlements, US wanted Russia to be an enemy and rewarded the Poles and Baltics into selectively remembering Russian oppression.
The surprise for everyone from Emmanuel Todd to us is that Germany and France just decided to destroy their economies with no benefit instead of defending their sovereign national interest. It would appear that their decision makers valued above all agreeableness with the US, valuing unison an early Bolshevik politburo under Lenin.
As Pascal Lottaz said, we are just a bunch of highbrow eggheads quoting Smith and List, whereas US decision-makers only know two words out of these three: Munich-1939-Chamberlain.
Why the kakistocracy of ideas? Some special interests have captured american foreign policy, as pointed out by Richard Hanania. With all respect due to Mearsheimer, states were rational self-interested actor when the prince made the war and peace decisions. Then the prince would seek advice on the best policy. Some IR experts say that since mid-19th century, wars are much harder to stop due to politicians replacing diplomats, and politicians talk of fight of good vs evil.
As analyzed by Curtis Yarvin, we see power groups in a position of authority (virologists, military) trying to opportunistically aggrandize their relevance and capture more budget. This chaotic governance dressed up as authoritative consensus imposed on the public sphere, he calls the cathedral.
In the meantime, we are arguing whether to wait 300 years for the next Peter the Great, or just 70 years for the next Gorbachev. If Curtis Yarvin is right, we might as well wait for regime change in the US, either turning into a monarchy or getting rid of its federal government. That might take some time too.
Thanks for the insights. It might be worth adding that local elites collaborating with external powers also contributed to the weakness of non-Western societies. We see this even today. Just think of the Cuban Americans, the Armenians in the West etc.
So there has been an economic incentive for the hatred of all things Russian promoted by the Arrogant Aggressive West, masters of the flushed universal antagonism

Not many can speak freely, you hear Mearsheimer and Sachs, and the rest is scared.
There are large numbers of academics, journos and former bureaucrats in the US and EU that write or speak regularly on WEF, EU and NATO foreign policy follies.

Sanders sold out in 2016 and '20.

very good insight. This needed to be published. Thank You for posting Professor.
