The Nordic Council has just had a meeting, and all delegates agreed on more military rearmament for war against Russia. These are the same people who have now for 30 years shouted themselves hoarse with their will to be a member of the EU. An EU that has deprived all individual states of all national rights, they are not even allowed to show their country's flag in parliament. The entire Nordic region has ceased to exist as independent and sovereign countries. The last two that just submitted to the American war mafia Nato were Finland and Sweden. And these same people claim they fear that Russia will attack us and take over.

It takes a very special kind of complete idiot to be installed in their roles...

Yes, and now Biden has allegedly given Ukraine "permission" to attack Russia with long-range Nato missiles, but what if Russia finally goes for a reasonable symmetrical counterattack against Nato? How will the warmongering mainstream population in the nordic countries react? Will they still laugh?

Biden do not know where he is, he was installed for a purpose. By you know who!

This was a really valuable discussion, and I was especially struck by Fyodor Lukyanov's assessment of Russian opinion and its approach to achieving victory. There was not much discussion of idea of Eurasian security arrangements without external powers (i.e. USA), which was discussed between Xi and Putin I recall. I think you are too kind of the pragmatic USA in your summary. They are driven by the ideology of American Primacy, and the interests created by American occupation of both ends of Eurasia since 1945.

Europe cannot survive much longer without Russian natural resources as a unified entity or multiple sovereign countries. The stronger powers in EU decided to went along with US neocons to conquer and loot Russia rather than the earlier German policy to trade with Russia. Russians have to defend against invaders. I think one major lessons Russians elite have learned since WW2 to now is that unconditional surrender is the only way to go when you are facing strong enemies, let alone a global hegemony. The Russian success in 1944-1945 is possible only due to the suffering of the the first 3 years to wear down the NAZIs. Now Ukraine NAZIs are worn down, do you want to let them escape and fight another day?

Wonderful insights. yet, I wouldn't say that the EU is less pragmatic. Rather, it's in the US government's interest to weaken the EU. The electoral Systems within the EU also lead to very different political dynamics than in the US.

As someone who doesn't live in Europe, it is in my opinion that a marginalized, economically weakened and diplomatically insignificant Europe is extremely good for world peace and human advancement. As economic decline accelerate in Europe nationalism will rise and European will be what they have historically been, the EU will die.

Unfortunately the EU and its constituent nations are shackled hand and foot to Washington. The media in Europe is totally owned by the intelligence community, and has been for at least 2 decades. So, while I agree we'll get more nationalism, I see no prospect for European nations throwing off Uncle Sam's yoke, with the possible exceptions of Hungary and Slovakia.

Nationalism is not possible if there is a loss of national identity. For an ambitious populous aspiring leader nationalism through national pride can be a very powerful pull especially in a country facing economic hardship.

Europe in 2022 was silent about Ukraine. It only went bat sh _ t crazy in 2023.

Why?

That is not true, you need better news sources. I live in Brussels and travel often throughout Europe, and Ukrainian flags were everywhere as of the end of February 2022. It drove me crazy to see them wherever you went - even in local administration offices there were Ukrainian flags flying! It was batshit from the start, most especially the irrational foreign policies that went with the mania. Sanctions and cultural bans were imposed on Russia and Russians immediately, it was scarily ideological.

If it was ideological it was also pre-planned. The US / NATO / EU three-headed monster goaded Russia into invasion, and all those lovely sanctions were already written and on the shelf, ready for instant implementation. It was never a reaction.

Unfortunately for them, the Russians knew or at a minimum suspected this was coming after the 2014 coup, and had revamped >80% of their military with new equipment by end-2020, and were well down the road of developing solutions to the expected sanctions.

And now, nearly 3-years into the SMO, Borrell's garden is withering before his eyes as Germany de-industrializes courtesy of the US destroying its cheap energy connection to Russia. The EU, going full suicide as it engages in escalating sanctions with China on behalf of its Emperor across the Atlantic, is totally ideological and incapable of changing course. It is a dead man walking, just as per Rand's 2019 paper predicted.
