Prof. Alfred de Zayas is a law professor at the Geneva School of Diplomacy and served as a UN Independent Expert on International Order (2012-2018), who wrote a blueprint for peace in Ukraine. A key impediment to a serious peace agreement is the reluctance to address the sources of the conflict. As long as the NATO countries insist that the invasion was unprovoked, then there is no recognition for mutual blame and no legitimacy for pursuing a compromise. The failure to live up to previous agreements also makes legal agreements less meaningful, and there will be a greater reliance on hard power.

Prof. De Zayas is extraordinary. It was a great interview. Among other themes he focused on the mediocrity of western políticians. He's so right! Yesterday Macron's speech is a good exemple of how low they have fallen. God help us all!
- Correct. As long as NATO doesn't acknowledge to themselves that the russian attack was provoked by NATO there can't be any progress towards a lasting peace.
