This is the most sad, tragic and evil story in modern history. How the western military industrial complex destroyed peace in Ukraine, Russia and Europe and of course many other places before Ukraine.

Really what was so cold about it, how many Russians were killed in Afghanistan by the US-backed Mujahideen in the decade prior to end of the " cold war "? Was it perhaps one of the earliest proxy wars. We have so badly squandered the gift that Reagan and Gorbachev gave us,

The Military Industrial Congressional Complex is a bogeyman of the antiwar contingent, but it is not a figment of their imagination. They may ascribe to it more power and influence - and almost assuredly more villainous intelligence - than it possesses, but it is real, it is powerful, it is influential, and it is villainous.

As we were warned.

If we are to have peace, then all three components of the complex must be purged.

The Military has to be bought strictly back under civilian control.

Industry has to be purged and effectively barred from re-entering the revolving door dynamics of the past decades' dalliances with the Military.

Congress has to be purged of the octogenarian warmongers who have destroyed entire countries for personal profit through their illicit dealings with the Military and Industrial elements..

At present there is hardly even a whisper from any political quarter to attempt these significant challenges, not even any one of them let alone all three.

So, we're not going to have peace any time soon.

The structural realities that produce wars of choice have been shaken by Trump's presidency, but they are not gone, and they are not ... forgiving.

"...the neocons hijacked the narrative by claiming the Cold War was won. Peace was believed to have been created through military dominance, which lent support to the policy of NATO expansionism that destroyed the post-Cold War peace."

Is this really the reality that conditioned the end to the Cold War? Wasn't NATO created in the first place to defeat the Soviet Union following the end of WWII, which saw the USSR as the dominant military force in Europe? Didn't the West, ie the US create the conditions that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union, in much the same way as the sanctions that have been used once again but this time, failed, to defeat Russia.

In other words, the US and the West, has never stopped trying to defeat first, the USSR and then Russia, ever since the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the first genuine alternative to Western Imperialism. Tactics and strategies may change/evolve over time but the objectives don't. The vast resources, the markets which, for a brief period, ie the post-Soviet space, the door was open to Western domination but was slammed shut by the ascendency of a newly invigorated Russia, through Putin. Trump realises that Russia and China cannot be challenged simultaineously, thus the task of taking on Russia has been passed to Europe, a Europe that's been castrated by US economic policies. How ironic is that eh? It reveals just how shortsighted the imperialists are. The days of Brezinski's continuation of the 'great game' are truly over.

The economic competition between two capitalist forces, the US and the EU has led to the current situation. The US found itself in a contradiction; on the one hand, trying to defeat Russia militarily and economically and at the same time trying to defeat the EU, its competitor, economically! The current situation is the result; a bankrupt EU and a US having to deal with a resurgent Russia. More irony piled on irony.

The utter Arrogance of Western Politicians to deny the repeatedly and frequently raised (and most of the time reasonable) Russian frustrations and objections goes against the previously claimed Moral and Intellectual Supremacy of the West. Utter Ignorance!

I, personally, I am deeply embarrassed and ashamed of this transparent Ignorance.

Ignorance that kills people in large numbers. Shame on you guys & gals of the US/EU & NATO!
