George Beebe: Negotiations & Attack on Russia's Nuclear Forces (fmr CIA Director of Russia Analysis)
George Beebe and Glenn Diesen
George Beebe is director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute. Beebe was the former director of the CIA’s Russia analysis and a staff advisor on Russia matters to Vice President Cheney. Beebe outlines why Trump should not walk away from negotiations, and why the attack on Russia's nuclear forces (possibly with NATO support) was extremely dangerous.
Beebe is very diplomatic and clearly is not going to say anything that could be seen as disloyal to the US, but nevertheless his analysis of the situation we have arrived at and a potential “safe” way forward is incisive.
Is it not striking that one of the bright red lines in Russia’s new nuclear doctrine is an attack on its strategic forces; and here we have an apparently long-planned and well-executed attack (which it is very hard to believe did not involve CIA or MI6) on those very forces.
It is as if the intent was to humiliate Russia and force it to respond with nuclear weapons or yet again have its restraint spun in the West as unserious, empty threats, encouraging NATO to push Ukraine into another level of escalation.
If Ukraine is admitted to the EU is decision of the peoples of the Europen nations and NOT of some US coloniaists. And thr Eurpran peples and esp the farmers are overwhelmingly opposed.
