Civilians Massacred in Syria & the EU Blames the Victims

I had a conversation with Seyed Mohammad Marandi about the tragic situation in Syria as thousands of civilians are massacred. The security forces of the new Syrian government are filming themselves as they humiliate and execute civilians Christians, Alawites, Shias and other minority groups. It was predictable that there would be sectarian violence after the toppling of Assad. Indeed, Hillary Clinton herself predicted it in 2018:

The political-media establishment has been very silent on the killings, referring to the events as “clashes”. The EU finally commented on the issue, however, it blamed the victims by condemning “anti-Assad elements” and did not mention the radical jihadists with which the EU attempts to develop relations.

However, the US took a diametrically opposite approach to the EU by condemning the “radical islamist terrorists” behind the mass killings. Thus, the US again found itself on the same side as Russia, as the two countries are calling for an emergency UN meeting. Without US support to control the narrative, the EU finds itself alone in providing a weak political cover for Jolani.

The shift in the US position is remarkable as the US has been behind the destabilisation and proxy war within Syria. However, Trump and Gabbard have for years been critical of America’s jihadist partners in the region. Trump stated the following in 2015:
