I think the biggest issue now is that Russia simply cannot trust the West. There is not a single thing the West can be trusted with, and the whole world has seen that. So, what exactly would Russia be "agreeing" to, and with whom? The US? The UK? The UN? Not a chance.
I have said from the start, all Russian goals will be met, and Russia will decide how this war ends. In my opinion, Russia will take everything , including Odessa, and leave Ukraine a little Bandera state that the EU countries can fight over.
If that state joins tries to join NATO, they will simply cease to exist IMO.
If you back someone into a corner, after being warned, don't be surprised when they run through you.
