What US–Russia Reconciliation Means for Europe and Ukraine
Interview with George Beebe, the former CIA Director for Russia Analysis
George Beebe is director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute. Beebe was the former director of the CIA’s Russia analysis and a staff advisor on Russia matters to Vice President Cheney. Beebe explains how the US adjusting to multipolarity entails improving relations with Russia and reorganising relations with Europe.
Why is Europe considered as a unified and homogenous entity?
GB @ 24:34 "[...] You know, if you approach this like a deterrence problem when you're in an action-reaction escalation dynamic, you make the problem worse not better"
Somebody PLEASE, for the love of God, sit Clint Starmer and Micron down in front of George Beebe and make them listen, and don't let them unsitdown until they've understood what an action-reaction escalation dynamic is, because they don't act like they know what it means.
I always thought the CIA were the mad guys, but Beebe is eminently likeable, so either the CIA have been mis-characterised, or I'm a terrible judge of character and beneath the eminently likeable surface a CIA mad guy is lurking.
Turns out that European political 'leaders' are the mad guys.
Thanks to Youtube's automated transcript for 'George Baby'. I'll add that to Glenn Diesel. It's good to have something to laugh at after sitting there wondering if these are the only two sane guys left on the planet.
