The EU’s Downfall: Proxy War, Economic Decline & Geopolitical Obscurity
MEP Michael von der Schulenburg with Prof. Glenn Diesen
I had a conversation with Michael von der Schulenburg, a German member of the EU Parliament who was previously a UN diplomat for 34 years in positions that included Assistant Secretary General of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
Michael von der Schulenburg warns his colleagues in the EU Parliament that the reluctance to embrace diplomacy and accept a negotiated settlement to the war is resulting in economic decline, possible war with Russia, and alienating the US. The EU and Zelensky may end up going against the US and Russia. The militarization of Germany would eventually fuel concerns among other European states. The EU’s decline can be reversed, but then it is necessary to end the proxy war against Russia that started in 2014.
Why doesn't the EU appoint such a seasoned diplomat as their chief foreign representative?
Because they don't want diplomacy, they want war, the continuation of politics by other means. And so they appoint their most venal cynical and manipulative politicians to such posts.
Notice how the people of these liberal European democracies don't get to vote on these positions. God only knows what they'd do if we let them.
I suspect the EU stalinista want war not so much for the usual imperial purposes (expansion of their wealth and power extraction surface area) but for a more immediate priority: to maintain their existing wealth and power extraction opportunities. Because their own people are turning against them, they need a war to justify (in their minds) their undemocratic totalitarian crackdown on domestic dissent. They see their end approaching and they're desperate to delay it by any means, irrespective of the damage to their own nations.
I don't think this will work, I am fairly confident their doubling down will cause more people to turn against them, but I've been wrong before.
But anyway, the point is, it is perfectly rational if you can put yourself in their shoes and numb half your brain so as to attempt to think as they do...
Thanks to the very few clear minded and brave heads like von der Schulenburg and Diesen, we still don´t have an all out Third World nuclear War.
