I had the great pleasure of speaking with Pepe Escobar about the role of BRICS in the world. We discussed the huge demand for creating a new economic architecture that enables states to diversify their economic connectivity, and the challenges of agreeing on a common BRICS format and moving it forward. Indonesia’s entry into BRICS is a huge development, yet it has largely been absent in our narrative-driven media, which does not want to give coverage to the main alternative to a Western-centric economic system. However, BRICS lays the foundation for a multipolar international system that can enable the West to reorganise relations with the non-Western world in a more sustainable format.

It cannot be underestimated how Russia and China are always looking at a prosperous future (hence India, Indonesia and Africa in BRICS) where Europe is looking at the stagnant, volatile past (currently resembling 1930s Europe), but even more frightening is that Europe's only strategy for the future is the highly questionable Net Zero, which is an economic destroyer by any measure...
