Outstanding guest. I learned so much. What a brilliant humanitarian analyst. So sad that she's an outcast from her homeland, but she's chosen a better place with a bright future. She's correct; Europe will become a museum. And it'll take another generation of suffering for true brave Europeans to rediscover their creativity and emerge from the darkness into the light.
And attempting control of the Med there is “inspection” of ships leading no doubt to piracy. What is concern is the number of ships especially “specialist” , ships being sunk damaged, being unable to be towed and repaired timely, delays in replacement ships, so potential of not enough shipping. Plus of course insurance of shipping being severely affected.
very interesting analysis. I saw in the 1960s that Asia will be the future and not Europe and I relocated to Asia in 1970. We Europeans are ruled by aliens, not by Europeans. Merz, Macron, Starmer (now replaced by Andy Burnham) are all part of the financial sector, the New York - London financial duopole who controls the the media and with it education, or rather destroying our previous high education. I met an Austrian student and when I mentioned Generals and Geographers by Weigert (I reprinted it with a new introduction) discussing Mackinder's Heartland Theory she only said: I have heard about it but it is dismissed as not relevant. In Germany a friend who studied Geography have not even heard about it when he studied at the Free University in Berlin. I made a practical time at Wagner Biro and Styer Daimler Puch, which is dismantled more or less, I heard. I said long ago: America is NOT our friend and Russia is NOT our enemy. Orban was my hero in Europe. In Germany the Morgenthau Plan is finally implemented, not by Jews directly but by Alians belonging to the financial sector. Interesting remarks on Africa: Financially Africa are still colonies, as the financial sector exploits it in a more subtle way but as effective as before. The ruler in Burkina Faso tries his best to block the exploitation. Hardly anyone discusses the philosophy of the Neocons=Globalists=Trotskyists with the brutal Milton Friedman's Shareholder Value System, the complete neglect of people and the Money as the main God. by the way: what is the difference between Democrats and Republicans? When they screw you the Democrats use lube. Do not blame it all on Trump. He is just a puppet, the boss of a Jewish Mafia family (even as he is not Jewish, but all his family and financiers are)
fascinating perspective, yes piracy now the norm by USA example now EU. To use Atlantic Shield by USA and UK, to control of Baltic. and to enable that, de industrialisation is now urgent re militarisation.
An old French man ln "exile" in Boston... And not skillfull in English. Well, yes geography is becoming very important, but something in this strong testimony is missing : I think another World Agreement -as the one about the use of the Sea- has to be built, about the Climate Change (Food, Water, Health and so many things) and the Collapse of Bodiversity.
Anyway a big thank to you,Glenn, concerning the way you are following ,with so different people, the way our World is going so wrong. And the EU, among first of them !
The days when ships could move freely are long gone. If countries are suffering under sanctions, and the Europeans decide that ships should have the freedom to sail, then the Europeans should also oppose all sanctions. The EU countries don't seem to have a major problem with that.
All countries are free to decide with whom they want to trade, and they should be sovereign. (UN Charter)
The USA, with the help of the EU, are the ones who have brought the most suffering to the people of the world. The colonial powers didn't give a damn about the people of these countries as long as they could exploit them, and they still do today.
Now they should pay for it.
And, I'm sorry, but NATO should be dissolved. It's not a defence union, but a war machine.
And, perhaps, the EU should also be dissolved to reorient itself. An unelected commission should not have the power to spend billions and sanction people for expressing their opinions.
All countries in the world must work together to make the problems of climate change and its associated, devastating consequences for humanity more bearable. Climate change is unstoppable, because despite so many warnings, practically nothing has been done to improve the situation. On the contrary, we are now spending all our money to strengthen the military, buy weapons, and prepare for war.
And it's time people stopped flying and driving all over the world. Every country still has beautiful places. And all countries should prioritise supporting their own people. There is much to be done; we don't need plastic, automotive, military, and agricultural industries, etc.
And the money for all of this belongs to the top 1%, who have pocketed everything they could over the past decades with the help of their governments.
I am utterly disgusted with our governments and appalled by their lack of common sense.
What I find most important here is the systems question.
Even if one disputes the broader geopolitical diagnosis, the underlying dependencies deserve much more attention:
energy → water → cooling → transport → agriculture → industry.
When several critical systems depend on the same physical resources, resilience can no longer be assessed sector by sector.
For me, the key question is therefore not whether “Europe is collapsing”, but whether our institutions are able to identify these coupled dependencies early enough — and preserve alternatives before one stressed system begins to constrain the next.
Infrastructure sovereignty begins where we understand how our dependencies intersect.
Excellent guest Prof Diesen. My wife and I live in Southern Europe; from the US originally. Two of our children have studied and now live in France and Germany respectively. I advise them to look East, the future is there, not in Europe.
and in the UK, we stripped the citizenry from a young 15 year old, Shamima Begun, born in raised in England, who was groomed by ISIS to run away to Syria. Once there she was kept in a room with other groomed girls, whose best escape was to marry an ISIS man to get private housing, which she did. She says she was poorly treated by her husband and bore three children, all of whom died. When she tried to return to the UK, the government took away her citizenship and rendered her stateless, using the guise that because her parents were Bangladesh born, she could get citizenship there, but she hadn't applied before her 18th birthday, (when she was still a child, by law), so Banglidesh did not allow her citizenship. I understand British sentiment towards her because she went to support the enemy, but talk about bending the law to meet popular opinion and political desire :-(
The situation of Frau Kneissl proves the Hypocrisy of Austria (of some Austrians) - that claims Neutrality but at the same time acting in a clearly anti-Russian way.
Russia did agree to withdraw from Austria (that had attacked Russia in WW2 and was in consequence occupied by the Soviets) and agreed to allow the re-establishment of a Neutral and demilitarized Austria (based on the Austrian State Treaty, an Agreement between the Allied Forces, that Austria had to agree to) in 1955.
Now Austria (under the excuse of the EU Policy) Austria and some Austrians became clearly anti-Russian, reneging both on their neutrality and the respect of a "Founder" of Austrian statehood.

Those in power violate any law that is against their interest. And unfortunately they get away with it.

Thank you, Prof. Diesen, for bringing another refreshing female voice to your interview room. The diversity is bringing us new insights.
say hello to your boyfriend, Vladimir

What a disgrace!?
