I had a conversation with Rein Müllerson, who was Gorbachev's legal advisor and then Estonia's deputy foreign minister. Müllerson wrote Estonia's draft declaration for independence and also prepared the text for Yeltsin to recognise Estonia's independence. For the past twenty years, Müllerson has worked as a professor of international law at King's College London.
Prof. Müllerson discusses the revolutionary moment of the US as a great power in desperate need of reforms. Will Donald Trump be more similar to Deng Xiaoping who successfully reformed China and took it to greatness, or more like Mikhail Gorbachev who failed in his reforms and ended up destroying the Soviet Union.
The UK was and is central leading the war in Ukraine against Russia. It’s a military war of course and in military wars the domestic media, politicians and academia have to be suppressed and controlled by propaganda and censorship. It is expected.
So then everyone has to decide which side of the fence do you want to be because truth is the enemy for those responsible creating the problems which lead to the war.
- Agree. The US needs to make MAJOR reforms but with the current Trump administration I fear those "reforms" will make the situation in the US even worse. I fear that these "reforms" will make the US even more authoritarian and therefore less "liberal".
