HOW LONG CAN THE US EMPIRE LAST?

Historian Bagot Glubb famously analyzed 11 major empires across 3,000 years and proposed that their national greatness lasts about 10 generations, or 250 years.

According to him superpowers progress through predictable stages:

Pioneers,

Conquests

Commerce,

Affluence,

Intellect,

Decadence,

Decline

Death of human empathy.

The last official act of any government is to loot their own treasury (like Trump is doing to the USA).

Thanks for the news update on the western banks robbing the populace enslaved by debt while it dies a slow death I feel a loss of oxygen already.

Thank you Krainer for continuing to spread leftists non stop propaganda about dose Ebil white Colonialists.

It was the Africans who themselves sold their own people as slaves.

It was corrupt African leaders who made lucrative deals with Rothschild’s agents like Cecil Rhodes to take people's resources.

Quit guilt tripping the white race who actually modernized Africa and improved the lives of Africans to the point that their population is growing exponentially.

It is amazing to me that Alex is one of only a very few people willing to explain in plain language what is happening. I ask myself WHY does someone like Jeff Sachs who likes to tell everyone he is the Harvard Economist and he rants and raves but he never not a single time has he talked about the financial disaster that is coming straight at us.

John Woodford's avatar

You apparently just haven't been listening to Sachs. He is concentrating, quite wisely, on trying to alert people of ways to avert the physical, social and financial disasters coming straight at us.

Here’s a question I have: If the global market itself is essentially an American-controlled tool, how can you be betrayed by or suffer from your own tool? What is the dollar replaced by, besides the yuan (which China will not be ready for anytime soon)? The reason I ask is that the US government obviously has no interest in insolvency, and because there is no such thing as outside the market, which it controls, then why won’t it just change the parameters? It’s like saying, “Once Time ends, we’re all going to be in big trouble.” But obviously time ended, so it doesn’t make a difference. If the end of the dollar means the end of the world, then insolvency must be avoided through extreme measures, which supersedes many of the artificial restrictions we imagine being imposed on what will rationally be a market agent with unbounded power to rewrite the rules to its advantage. The US is too big to fail.

The world trade is older then both US or UK empires. Your assumption on which you base the argument: 'and because there is no such thing as outside the market, which it controls', is wrong. There's about 50% of world trade done outside the West (dollar) control, and rising....

The currency on the invoice isn't the currency of the system. China settles in yuan with money earned from selling to American consumers in dollars. Its domestic demand is weak because the Chinese are frugal savers and have been for a thousand years. The 50 percent you’re citing is driven by demand for goods paid in dollars. It’s like saying, “50 percent of the body’s blood is in the legs.” That’s true, but the blood isn’t the heart, and blood can only be pumped by the heart.

Demand has ruled and will overrule

The Plain Read's avatar

Demand from who? Like I said, there is nothing outside of spacetime. There is nothing outside of the market, in a certain manner of speaking, so who is the US beholden to in regard to the market but itself?

For Decline. The populous is understanding the big picture. People will move .. change will happen .. I see the elite running to their yachts and islands … until not even there it’s safe. .. decline will come .. inflation will come .. the winter in Europe will come … wood and a fireplace 🪵 a must! Russia will have to respond after elections …. So demand is huge for retaliation followed naturally by a decline .. fear is real then … safety is all

The Plain Read's avatar

I suppose the demand for Millenarianism is just as sharp as that for decline! Perhaps they’re the same thing.

I think you are under extreme brainwashing. Did you even listen to this podcast?? The US and Trump are not owning or even controlling anything. The bankers have taken complete control and they know that the US is going to default on it's debt. So the bankers have ordered Trump to destroy as much of the world energy economy so that the bankers get to finance whoever winds up as winners. Look at the World wars the bankers fund all sides and only once a sure winner emerges do they change tactics in order to fund the rebuilding. The US will NOT be a winner you can be assured of that.

A powerful coalition is based on shared strategic interest, confidence and continued cooperation, not an absence of differences. When leaders say their alliance is a "granite wall" that means they're announcing the alliance is strong, stable and committed to common goals against pressure and outside criticism. "A shared and oft-repeated objective of many allied governments is stopping further spread of nuclear weapons," they note, expressing worry that 'an expanding club of nuclear states will increase regional instability; enhance the prospects for conflict ormiscalculation; and undermine the multilateral non-proliferation regimes.'

That is something best achieved using diplomacy, economics, intelligence, deterrence, and if warranted, multilateralism within international law, the allies say.

Ultimately, sustained security also requires, "sustained diplomacy, a stable region, and ongoing cooperation within the international community that mitigates the likelihood of war and preserves the foundations for long-term international security," according to the allies.

Btw, watchers of this “academic” substack, your host Glenn has been captured by Putin AI propaganda campaign depicting the Polish/Ukraine diplomatic tensions as a major issue. He will make much ado of this and the recent changes in the Ukrainian military hierarchy. As if any of this reflects the facts on the ground.
