The last sentence in this post is most un-Diesen like. I think a nuclear strike will only occur if Russia is attacked with a nuclear weapon.

It is much more likely that attacks against specific targets will begin with hypersonic missiles at very specific targets. The European response will then be the key thing. I also think that when push comes to shove the US will weigh in to help Europe. Russia needs to escalate the conflict within Ukraine BUT would be extremely ill-advised to go beyond that unless it is attacked. However, I do concede that time is running out....

But, once current European leaders are changed, why the continued hostility towards Russia? With new leaders perhaps Europe becomes less paranoid about Russia. Maybe. Anyway, if reports about the Oreshnik are true, shouldn't it be enough for Russia's deterrence without actual nukes? Perhaps I show my ignorance about this Oreshnik, because I would have thought a few more of them thrown at Lvov would have concluded things already. Russia in my opinion has really held back many ways, showing that it really only wants Donbass. There. Now I've shown my true disloyalty as I'm a senior living in western canada :)
